ELC minutes for October 15, 2016

Meeting called order at 9:30 AM

Present were: Joe Wadas, Paul Claus, Josh Gompert, Tom Haase, Jerry Schoenenberger, Donna Uhrenholdt, Steve Wenz, Derald Watson.

Absent: Mike Armstrong, Larry Belz, Kevin Hlavac, Chris Levander.

Tom moved, Donna seconded that we go ahead with the street sign purchase. Motion carried.

There are currently 99 dues paying members.  19 have not paid. Reminder: dumpster use and tree dump access is for paid members only.

Cheryl reports sales for centennial books have passed the break-even point. All future proceeds will go to the general fund.

It was decided to continue with the following summer events: Paddle poker, golf ball slam, fun run.

Larry Belz will continue working toward obtaining a grant for work on the lake.

Wi-Fi is available for dues paying members.

Campgrounds are being reserved for 2017. You might want to think about getting your weekend reserved now.

Tyler Decker appeared before the board representing Nebraska Bass Fishermen Live. He was seeking permission to use the lake the weekend of June 17, 2017 for a bass fishing tournament. It was moved by Steve Wenz, seconded by Derald Watson to give said permission. Motion carried.

A person has offered to haul in rock for repair of roads and campsites. Rock will be stored at the south end of the dam, and at the side of the boulevard east of the carousel. Also at the west campgrounds.

Discussion was held concerning the insurance quote for lake buildings. Topic was tabled until the November meeting pending additional estimates.

Josh Gompert moved to purchase a new passage door for ELC building; Paul Claus second. Motion approved.

Discussion on purchasing white resin tables to replace the old tables in the community building. Consensus was to purchase 5 new tables now, with the idea of replacing a few each year.

It was moved by Steve, seconded by Paul to spend $800 to remove the remaining trees at the dam. Motion carried.

It was moved by Donna, seconded by Tom to make application to the Nebraska Passport program for 2017. Motion carried.

Paul moved that all above ground sewage recovery tanks will have to be privacy fenced. Derald seconded the motion. Motion carried. Note: This does not apply to outhouses.

Dec 10 is the deadline to get your 2017 activities included on the calendar of events.

It was noted that campsites are not reserved until we have the money in hand. Also, it was suggested that we remove brush, etc., along the road beside the south tent camping area to give better visibility to that area. This will be a spring cleanup item.

Following the meeting, members met at the dam to prepare it for winter.
