ELC Board meeting minutes: November 19, 2016

ELC Board met at Wadas’ cabin.

Members present were: Mike Armstrong, Larry Belz, Paul Claus Jr., Josh Gompert, Chris Levander, Jerry Schoenenberger, Donna Uhrenholdt, Joe Wadas, Derald Watson.

Absent: Tom Haase, Steve Wenz, Kevin Hlavac,

Pres Joe Wadas called the meeting to order at 9:10 AM

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the ELC mission statement.

The minutes of the last meeting were approved.

Paul presented the treasurers report. Funds available are as follows:

General fund: $4,500.29

Carousel fund:  6,416.11

Raffle fund:       6,138.12

Pay Pal:           1,493.76

Activity fund:    3,703.02

TOTAL            $22,251.29

Paul reported receipt of funds from the Wheeler County Foundation. It was suggested that ELC members consider membership in the Foundation.

Larry moved, seconded by Paul to close out the Raffle account at the bank. Motion carried.

The financial report was approved.

Old business: Dates are being set for 2017 family activities. Paddle poker will be held 4th of July weekend, turtle races Labor Day weekend, and the fun run date has yet to be decided. The Veteran’s Program at the carousel will be May 28th.

The street signs have been ordered. Payment will be made upon delivery.

Larry Belz reported on his meeting with a representative of the Environmental Trust. A copy of his report will be attached to these minutes. Paul moved, Derald seconded to move ahead with the grant application process. The focus will be on water quality and stream restoration, as suggested by the Environmental Trust.

Joe reported that several weekends are full for 2017 camping season. Also, tent camping fee will be raised to $10 per tent for the 2017 season.

Chris will acquire and install a new door on the ELC building.

New business: Insurance estimates were discussed. Motion by Josh to insure only the corporate building at this time. Mike seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Discussion was held regarding a request that we remind people using the shooting range that there are sometimes cattle in the adjoining pasture, and that care need to be exercised when shooting. Mike will prepare signage addressing this concern.

Paul moved to give Chris Levander prior approval to bury drain tile under Stitzer Way and the Boulevard in the spring. Seconded by Josh. Motion carried.
