General Fund……………. $29,541.31
Dock Spaces – Needs to be know that the dock spaces belong to the lake and do not transfer with the cabin/real estate when it sells. Buyer of property can have first right of refusal; however, they must be a dues paying association member and pay the annual dock fees. If they do not pay dues or dock fees they are not eligible for a dock space and the spot will go to the next person on the waiting list.
We are going to work on getting a list of everything who has made donations to the lake over the past year.
Upcoming events for Labor Day weekend proceeds will be going to the general fund.
Tailgate party at the Carousel on Sept. 4th for the Husker game. We will have brats and hot dogs and bloody mary’s.
Duck Races will be Sunday, September 5th. Only a few tickets left.
Farm & Ranch Raffle – We have a large donation from Sapp Brothers in Elgin for ag grease and fluids that doesn’t fit the with the duck race participants. We are going to do a Farm & Ranch Raffle. Tickets will go on sale Labor Day weekend and winner drawn Oct. 15th. They have requested the proceeds for these go to the fireworks fund. They will also donate on an annual basis to the lake. We will be looking at having an annual Farm & Ranch Raffle.
There is a heavy request for playground equipment at the lake. We are taking donations for equipment. Joe’s daughter Sara is also working on a grant for some playground equipment as well.
Insurance Quote – Insurance will be coming due again soon. Still trying to work on meeting with the agent to look at some new quotes.
Introduction of Roger Helgoth and Cyndi Schure our new board members.
Game & Parks done a fish study. Not many fish caught upriver rom the lake. They are going to shock the lake later this fall to see what other fish we have. They are also going to put in about 200 catfish sometime this fall.
We received a notice from the state that we cannot hold water back. We receive them periodically during droughts that we can’t hold any additional water back.
Wild Rice – Roger had a gentleman with the Game & Parks come out and there is some wild rice growing on NW side of the lake. According to the Game & Parks it is not invasive, it is not common around here, normally found up in the Great Lakes region and it is good feeding for geese. According to G&P the water level must be just right if the water level gets deeper it will probably go away.
Goose Hunting – We are getting an over population of geese around the lake that is starting to get out of control. We want to encourage people who can legally hunt geese during the season to do so. If population continues to increase we will need to look at getting a special permit to eradicate the population. The volume of goose feces along the shore, beach, carousel etc. poses a health concern.
Recreational Road Project – Roger met with the Game & Parks regarding the recreational road project to potentially pave the road from Hwy 70 at the sale barn to the lake. This is a program through the DOT and the Loup & Platte Valleys may now be able to get funding through the CARES Act and that would move other places up the list for the recreational roads program.
Joe made a motion to show support for moving forward with the recreational roads project when it come available. Amy would like to see some more information if we could if we could have Roger line up Bob Brgholz to come out to our next meeting.
Ice Eater – Tom purchased and donated an ice eater. It will keep the water opened around the gates at the dam to prevent the gates from freezing up and not have to have the risk getting hurt putting in and taking out boards each fall and spring.
Repairs – Tom made a motion to pay off the remaining $4,500 to Kokes so we can submit all bills to NDR for reimbursement for a percentage of the cost. Second by Ashley. Motion Carried.
Tom made a motion to have a minimum for $1,000 up to $4,000 put into a separate account to budget for & allocate towards dam and lake repairs to avoid borrowing. We receive 5% interest each year from the endowment that we have to use for specific purchases & repairs. The funds from the endowment can be used for the stated purchase and matching funds, that would have been used if we didn’t have the endowment could be taken from the general account and put into the separate account. Amount could be reviewed each year and more put in if we have the funds. Second by Paul. Motion Carried.
We have a few donations that come in towards the cost of beef for the duck races, if anybody else would like to contribute towards that cost.
Camping – Lake camping reservations and questions are taking away from Joe’s secretary to do her actual job. Norm made a motion to investigate other mans for camping reservations. Tom Seconded. Motion Carried.
Norm is going to talk to the city about the camping dump site. A lot of times it is blocked so campers aren’t able to access.
Motion made by Norm that we enter executive session.
Motion by Paul to adjourn meeting, Second by Ashley. Meeting adjourned.
Next meeting will be at 9:30 am on September 18th.
Respectfully submitted by
Ashley Kaiser, Secretary
